ogo - Obvious Good Outcomes

Obvious Good Outcomes

Input: $ARGUMENTS

Purpose

People systematically under-notice good outcomes. Negativity bias, risk-focus, and problem-solving orientation mean obvious upsides get skipped. This skill corrects that.

Step 1: STATE THE SITUATION

What is being analyzed?

SUBJECT: [one sentence]

Step 2: OBVIOUS GOOD OUTCOME SCAN

For each category, identify what good thing is obviously true or obviously likely:

A. Already Happening

  1. What is already going well that nobody is acknowledging?
  2. What positive trend is already underway?
  3. What resource or advantage already exists?

B. Direct Positive Consequences

  1. What is the most obvious benefit of this action/plan/situation?
  2. What good outcome is so likely itโ€™s being taken for granted?
  3. Who obviously benefits? How much?

C. Downstream Positives

  1. What good thing does this make possible next?
  2. What doors does this open?
  3. What learning or capability is gained regardless of outcome?

D. Compared to Alternatives

  1. How is this obviously better than doing nothing?
  2. How is this obviously better than the main alternative?
  3. What would be obviously worse, and how far are we from that?

E. Hidden Upsides

  1. What positive side effect is nobody talking about?
  2. What skill, relationship, or asset is being built as a byproduct?
  3. What option value is being created?

Step 3: OUTPUT

OBVIOUS GOOD OUTCOMES:

Already happening:
- [good thing in progress]

Direct benefits:
- [obvious positive result]

Downstream positives:
- [what this enables]

Hidden upsides:
- [unnoticed positive]

Most overlooked good outcome: [the one most likely being ignored]

Implication: [what recognizing these changes about the analysis]
